Benefits of Membership

The Association is widely recognised as the voice of hospital consultants in Ireland. Membership is confined to consultants in hospital practice. It represents the views of its members in all fora in which they should be heard. These include Government and other key health policy makers, employing authorities, health insurers, regulatory authorities and the media

It is a fearless defender of the profession and its core values, in particular the freedom of consultants to act in the best interests of patients.

In addition, it represents individual members in negotiations with employing authorities on a range of issues that are of concern to those members.

Finally, it has negotiated a range of financial and other services that are of benefit to the members.

The Association represents in excess of 85% of hospital consultants. Membership is entirely voluntary, upon ratification by the National Council and payment of the annual subscription.
