Join the IHCA
There are different classes of membership with varying rights and entitlements.
Consultant Membership
Open to holders of the Common Contract, or those who are eligible to hold a HSE structured public hospital appointment.
Are either registered, or eligible to be registered, on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners.
Associate Membership
Open to doctors in the final stage of their specialist training who have not yet been appointed to a Consultant post and who hold or have previously held enrolment on the Irish Medical Register or Irish Dental Register; and
Have commenced in or completed the final two years of specialist training; or Have received a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training from an Irish Postgraduate Medical Training Body.
Life Membership
Open to hospital consultants who have reached retirement age under the Common Contract, or had they held such a contract would be deemed to have reached retirement age.
Have been members of the Association for each of the five years immediately prior to reaching such retirement age, and have paid the requisite life membership fee.
