National Council
The National Council runs the Association on behalf of its members between General Meetings. There are thirty members, twenty-five of whom are elected. The remaining fivemembers are co-opted. The Council is representative of the regions and the specialties and one member must be a life member. Elections are held every four years, the last having been held in 2006. Members may be elected for a maximum of two consecutive terms. Members who have served two terms may go forward for election having subsequently not served on Council.
Focus Group
The Officers of the Association along with the Chairpersons of the Schedule Review Committee and the Enterprise Liability Committee form the Council Executive or Focus Group. This Committee meets to expedite the business of Council, as and when required, between meetings of the National Council.
