The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) warmly welcomes today’s announcement by Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly regarding the Government’s plan to bring 30 critically ill children from Gaza to Ireland for urgent paediatric care.

Our consultants, alongside healthcare professionals across the country, stand ready to offer their expertise and support to ensure these children receive the life-saving treatments they need. We also extend our gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and all those who have worked tirelessly to make this possible, including the Gaza Paediatric Care Initiative, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), the Irish Red Cross, the Department of Health and the many behind-the-scenes coordinators involved in this complex operation.

This is a critical moment where our medical community has the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children caught in the midst of an unimaginable conflict. We are proud to contribute to this vital effort and are fully committed to delivering the highest standard of care to all those in need.

As always, the IHCA remains steadfast in its mission to provide timely and world-class healthcare to every patient, regardless of origin or circumstance. We look forward to working closely with the Department of Health, the HSE, and our colleagues across the medical field to ensure the success of this programme.
