IHCA Statement on the Audit into surgeries at Children’s Health Ireland (CHI)

The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) notes the publication today of the independent audit into paediatric orthopaedic surgeries at Children’s Health Ireland (CHI). 

We recognise the deep distress and hurt experienced by the children and families affected.

Patient safety should always be at the forefront of our health service, and we support any action that ensures that a repeat of such failures does not happen again.

We will continue to advocate for reforms and resources that strengthen oversight, improve clinical governance, and ensure timely access to safe, specialist care for all children.
