The Irish Hospital Consultants Association has said that it is extremely concerned at the continuing deterioration in the number of people on waiting lists for hospital appointments.

The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) has said that a new survey from the Medical Council confirms that the Government’s policy towards new entrant consultants is driving our highly trained doctors and consultants abroad and undermining acute hospital care for patients.

The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) said the findings of the unpublished HSE’s National Doctors Training and Planning (NDTP) unit report, as confirmed in today’s Sunday Business Post, are a damning indictment of the government’s policy which has undermined hospital consultant recruitment. This is of significant importance as it is gravely damaging the delivery of timely care to patients.

The Irish Hospital Consultants Association has said that it is alarmed at the response from the Government to a number of consultants raising their concerns about existing resource deficits in Waterford University Hospital.

 

Thursday 11th April 2019: The IHCA said that the Medical Workforce Intelligence Report, which was published by the Medical Council today, confirms the extremely damaging impact of discriminating against hospital consultants since 2012.
